Rice Krispie Treats – a twist on the original

I made these Rice Krispie Treats for Valentine’s Day and they didn’t last long in our house!  I recently watched the January Favorites for one of my favorite You Tubers – Jennifer also posts a blog post to match up with the videos.  Anyway one of her favorites was rice krispie treats and she mentioned that they do half cocoa krispies and half regular.  I had to try it.

As we have established many times on this blog, I am not much for following recipes…I loosely followed this – but did more marshmallows (and Jennifer suggested) and did 1/2 regular and 1/2 cocoa krispies.  I also did it on the stove and not in the microwave 🙂

Melt the marshmallows and the butter together.www.fabulousindeed.com

Measure out the cereal and put aside. I  stirred mine up to make sure it was mixed.

Start adding the cereal, I did it a bit at a time…

We usually can’t wait until it is cooled, and like to eat it when it is still kind of gooey.

Verdict – we loved them, and would totally do the 1/2 and 1/2 again.  Thank you Jennifer for the tip!

Be sure to check out more recipes from our blog.  Do you have any favorites lately for us to try?
