Helen is a great small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia. It is less than a two-hour drive from Atlanta so it’s a fun weekend getaway.
A great attraction in Helen is tubing down the Chattahoochee River. There are two main tubing companies in the town. I have used both and they are both great. This time we used Cool River Tubing but previously we have used Helen Tubing. The river is pretty shallow in most places and makes for an easy trip down the river. Both companies charge less than $10 per person so it is an affordable way to have some fun!
We stayed at the Hampton Inn on Unicoi street if you are planning an overnight trip. It is in a great location.
Helen is a replica of a Bavarian Alpine town so all of the buildings are very pretty!
There are tons of shops to stroll through and plenty of candy and fudge shops! I purchased from most of them!
There are restaurants lining the river so you can dine and watch the rafters float past. Highly entertaining. We ate at three of the restaurants on our visit. Stay tuned for a post about those!
For some reason we always take a carriage ride in Helen! I don’t know why because I never do that in any other city but it keeps happening here. Rose loves it and she loves to feed to horse afterwards! (maybe I keep doing this because Rose loves it!)
If you plan a trip to Helen I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!

What a wonderful “walk” through your recent trip to Helen! Thanks so much for coming and sharing your experiences with everyone. I love the article, especially the part (picture) with Rose feeding the horses. That is Nelly she’s becoming fast friends with and I’m sure will be very happy when she sees Rose again (with carrot in hand!). Thanks for spending your quality family time in Helen, we hope y’all are back again soon!
Thanks for the kind words! We will definatley return to Helen, it’s such a nice town! We very much enjoyed our carriage ride and we learned so much about the city from the driver. She was very nice.
So cute! It looks like a small village in Europe! You’re always at the best places!

It’s all because of car shows! lol. I’m thankful to have car shows or events to go to! Honestly, almost all of our vacations are based around car events.
