My daughter made some homemade marshmallows last weekend so naturally we needed something to go with them! What’s better than hot chocolate and marshmallows?
We have made this mix for the last few years and it’s so nice to have on hand and ready for the cold weather. Let’s be real honest though…in Georgia it takes a while to get to cold weather so we just suck it up and drink it in the heat.
The recipe is from the Short and Simple Family Recipes Cookbook by Amy Roloff. My wonderful friend Lisa sent me a signed copy of this cookbook a few years ago and I love it. We have made many things from this book, the recipes are easy to follow and very good.
You need wonderful things like grated chocolate, powdered milk, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, non-dairy creamer, and salt.
Here is the complicated part. You stir it and put it into an airtight container. For the cup of hot chocolate add 4 tbsp of mix to one cup of hot water.
Here are a few pictures of those homemade marshmallows. They were really fun to make.
My daughter loves to cook and has her own cooking blog. She has wanted to try these marshmallows for years now so it was fun that they actually turned out! I was in charge of rolling them in powdered sugar.
The hot cocoa mix takes about ten minutes to make and you are set for the winter!
How cute is that mug! I love it. If you need something to go with your hot chocolate check out some of our recipes here!
