I love to make handmade gifts for the holidays! I would make one for everyone in my life if I had the time. This table runner is a quick and easy gift, it takes under 30 minutes to make! My daughter has a few table runners that a friend made for her and she absolutely loves them. She likes to use table runners for lots of meals, not just special occasions. We use them on our kitchen island where we serve dinner. I thought it would be fun to make Rose some holiday table runners this year. This one matches the apron that I made for her last year!
Pick your fabric, you can use the same for each side or different. I picked two different fabrics. Kinda a two for one table runner!
I cut this table runner 14″ wide and 60″ long. If you are making this for someone and don’t know their table size, don’t worry too much about it. I like the table runners whether they fall over the edge of the table or if they just lay in the middle and don’t reach the edges. Either way, it adds a festive look. Also, you can bring the ends to a point, round them or make it a rectangle like this one.
Put the right sides of the fabric facing one another and sew around the edges leaving an opening of about 3″ to be able to turn it right side out. I like to zig zag my seams also for extra durability. Turn the table runner right side out and press the seams. Fold the fabric under at the opening and press. Sew around all the edges. I like to do a double stitch.
That’s all folks, it is super easy and quick. These make great hostess gifts, teacher gifts or a great gift for the foodie in your life! Also, if you have a child that likes tea parties this would be really cute made the size of a kid table for the tea party!
Now, I need to get busy making them for the remaining holidays!
