Are you ready for hometown dates? I am.
Of course they left us last week with some unknowns. Which they seem to love doing that to us this season.
We open the episodes with the girls sitting around worrying about what is happening. They are so shocked by Kristina going home. Nick comes in. He has roses in his hand. For some reason Corinne can’t count how many there are. He says I have 4 roses here. He wants to give them the roses, so they have a chance to accept it. Raven, Vanessa, Corinne, and Rachel all accept roses.
Raven rolls up on a 4 wheeler. She rolls up and picks Nick up.
They go to a grain bin. Apparently, in Hoxie you have meaningful conversations on these. Then the PoPo shows up. It turns out it is Raven’s brother.
They then ride off on their own 4 wheelers.
Then Raven starts taking Nick’s clothes off and they run around in a mud puddle. He’s on top, she’s on top and he carries her away!
They clean themselves up and go to meet Raven’s parents. They first find out that her dad got a report from the doctor that he is cancer free. Hugs all around!
Raven brings me to tears telling her parents how happy she is with her family…and that she wants to mirror their love. Raven goes to talk to her dad.
They talk about him walking her down the aisle. OMG, I can’t deal with father/daughter stuff. My father died when I was 11, so this stuff tears me up. They have a very cute relationship. Raven goes to talk to her mom. Raven says, she thought Nick was going to be so arrogant, and she was surprised by him. She says, he is the kind of man she wants. But she has to know that there are 3 other girls. Mom says she trusts her judgement, but can she actually tell him”I love you” in her future.
Nick is talking to her dad, and says how happy he is to have gotten the news that he got. Nick goes right for the big stuff…he asks if they are comfortable with them getting engaged at the end of this. Dad hems and haws a bit, and says he didn’t expect to like Nick. He says, you are very likable, and he is glad that Raven is having fun, and he has a lot of faith in Raven, so they will follow her lead.
Raven tells us, that she needs to tell Nick that she is falling in love with him. She doesn’t say it, but says she has no hesitation. She is now worrying that she is the only girl left, that hasn’t said I love you to Nick.
Next up is The Bachelorette (Rachel). Why waste our time? Well I guess, they want us to buy into her family and fall in love with them.
Rachel is gonna take Nick to church. Oh My.
Nick says this is a little different than his home church.
Nick and Rachel sit and talk. I am not sure why the whole focus is on race. They act like it is a surprise that she is black. I am confused by this. I really like Rachel and it has nothing to do with her skin color. I am very excited to have her as the Bachelorette!
Rachel tells Nick, that her dad can’t be there, but they may meet later. Interesting, I don’t think they knew then that she was The Bachelorette – or did they?
They walk into the house and Mom, sister, cousin, another sister and her husband (who happens to be white), (which makes it even weirder, that they are making such a stink about this inter-racial relationship).
Someone asked Nick if he recognizes all of the food on his plate. He says – I’m not from Mars!
The sister and brother in law go chat with Rachel and Nick. Brother in law says I see you are WHITE. Nick does admit this is his first serious relationship with a black woman.
Mom is talking to Nick and asking if he has dated a black woman before, he handles it well, he says, I know she is black, I have never had a serious relationship with a black woman. He says he sees her for everything that she is, not just her skin color. He handled himself very well. Mom asks, if there are any red flags Nick has when thinking about Rachel. He says well, he knows she isn’t perfect, but they have great communication and lots of fun together.
Now mom is asking Rachel, how serious is she about Nick. She says, she can see herself falling in love with him. She says, if she had a checklist, there would be a lot checked off. She speaks of his genuine-ness. Mom tells Rachel that she likes what she sees with Nick. He seems comfortable around them, then says what attracted her to Rachels dad was he knew who he was, where he was going, and very self assured. She sees that in Nick. Rachel is blown away by that comment.
They say goodbye, no earth shattering conversation.
They start the date shopping.
They are in some exclusive mall in Miami, and everyone knows her.
Corinne is drinking champagne that the store employee brings her. Nick says if he and Corinne end up together, he will need a couple of jobs.
He ends up with a $3,000 + outfit that consists of a sweater and jeans that Corinne pays for. (well probably Corinne’s daddy paid) Hey you could have gotten that exact grey sweater and jeans at Target, and gone on a trip for $3,000!
They are now in the food court, and she tells him that she loves him. They make out.
Now time to meet the family. Does he give the same flowers to each family?
He is meeting Mom, Sister, Dad and NANNY!
Corinne tells her family that the girls used Raquel against her. They eat the world famous olives.
Dad and Corinne go to talk. He asks if she can be happy with this guy, and she tells him that she told him she loved him today. Corinne says, she has dated him a month and a half! Like that is so long. Daddy, says that is only 6 weeks. He says what do you see – she says she sees a person who cares about Corinne. He sees a lot in her, a lot more than other people see in her.
Nick is speaking with the Nanny. Referring to 3 other women that he is still dating. She says Corinne is like a daughter to her.
Dad and Corinne are laying on the bed discussing, how will she feel being the bread winner or the woman at home.
Dad now talks to Nick and he teaches how to hold a glass and tells him to drink before they speak. Um ok.
Dad says he spoke to Corinne and learned of her feelings for Nick, but he is concerned because Corinne likes the finer things in life and can Nick provide that. He tells Nick that Corinne would be happy being the bread winner, and really you could see Nick get a bit deflated, or was it just me.
Mom and Corinne, she tells mom that she loves him. She says, if he chooses anyone over her, she will be heartbroken.
Nick asks for her dad’s blessing, he doesn’t really say yes, but a bunch of if, then…he is ok. They toast and says at least you will have access to good scotch.
Lid to Nick’s pot. Um ok.
They leave and make out. Corinne tells us again, that she loves Nick and hates that he is dating 3 other girls.
It is raining in Montreal, so let’s make out with umbrellas. I love using umbrellas in a photoshoot!
She is going to take him meet her students.
They sit and talk about Vanessa and Nick, they make a scrapbook with the students for them to remember their memories.
Her parents are divorced so he will meet 2 different sets of family.
First house is 15 loud Italian people – quoted Vanessa – mom, sister, brother in law, nephew, brother, aunt and more cousins, uncle, and grand parents, and 2 best friends. Shew.
Mom pulls Nick aside to talk. She wants to know what is it about Vanessa. He immediately, mentions looks, and mom says, well I am not so much about the looks.
Sister is now grilling Nick. Vanessa family is very worried about where they will be living. They are very concerned that they haven’t made an agreement on where they will live.
Vanessa is talking to her brother, and he is very protective. Vanessa is now with her sister. She wants to tell her how happy she is. Sister asks if he proposes, Vanessa says, I will say yes. You can tell Sister isn’t pleased. Now Mom is sharing her feelings. She is worried about her being heartbroken at the end of this.
Vanessa tells us that she is leaving this portion of the date with lots of questions. Nick tells us pretty much the same thing. He says there are a lot of practical questions that we need to answer.
Now time to meet dad and step mom. They discuss all of the traveling.
Dad immediately, asks Nick to come chat, he wants to know what he likes about Vanessa over the other women. Dad says, I want her to be happy and have respect for each other. Nick says, yes, I respect her, dad says, and the 3 other women? Nick asks, if it gets to the point of an engagement, would I have your blessing?
Dad mentions the 3 other women, and asks if he asked their blessing also, Nick side-steps it, Dad doesn’t let him, nails Nick down and he says yes, I did. Dad says, I don’t want my daughter to get hurt, and want her happy, Nick says so do I. Dad finally, says you do have my blessing, if it comes to that.
Dad and Vanessa are now chatting. Dad tells her that he gave him his blessing. She seems surprised that he asked for his blessing. She says again, if he asks, she would say yes. Vanessa says, did you ask if he asked for other peoples blessings too? Of course, he says yes. Vanessa is immediately distraught.
Vanessa refers to this as a game, which I don’t find a good sign for someone wanting a real life relationship.
They part without having a deep conversation.
Now they all head to New York.
Nick tells us, home towns were great, but he also sees that there are a lot of things to figure out for this decision, and having to send one girl home.
We see Raven, and she says, she may be the only person who hasn’t said I love you.
Corinne reminds us that she bought nice clothes for Nick and said I love you.
Rachel tells us that she is falling in love with him, and he doesn’t know.
Vanessa – we never hear from at this point.
We see Nick getting ready.
Now we see Vanessa. She tells us she has a lot of unanswered questions, and that he realizes that he really cares for other people. Ya think?
You see wobbly heels walking to Nick’s room – they want us to think it is Vanessa. But indeed it is Andi.
and you guessed it TO BE CONTINUED.
