When I heard about a show that Drew Barrymore and Ellen DeGeneres are collaborating on, I was already in! I am a sucker for love and am excited to see the show. Apparently this is a British show that Drew and Ellen have brought to the States.
The marketing for this show is great! These were on their facebook page!
Episode 1 synopsis: A serial dater meets a virgin, a nerd looks for a spark, a military vet seeks an alpha male, a seven-time bridesmaid is ready for her moment and a pair of seniors look for meaningful connection.
This show takes place in Chicago at MK restaurant – I guess all of them will?
Alyssa and Mike
Alyssa and Mike are the first couple we meet. Alyssa is a serial dater and Mike is a virgin. My first thought was – um how is this gonna work. Mikes shares a pick up line – Yo girl do you have asthma, cause you got that ass ma….um. NO.
Mike provided some good champagne, which she was very impressed with. He shares that his father died when he was 12 and she got all teary. She explains that she can’t imagine if her father died, as she is very close to him. They leave. And go to the interview room, and share that they both liked each other and want to see each other again. They leave to continue the date at a bar and have a kiss.
Kenny and Christina
Kenny was injured in basketball and uses a cane and Christina is a veteran. She needs an alpha male. Kenny makes some awkward race jokes and then suggests that she is too pretty to be a Veteran. Kenny shares that his father was in the military and executed.
He wants a second date, he said you could reject and I will hit you up until you block me. Then he makes a Silence of the Lambs joke!
She tells the camera she wants someone that she can just be with. She says she is a nerd, but judges the heck out of him for having a flip phone. They are both very awkward and nerdy. I think they were a good match. David has flowers delivered to Annie.
He says he would have gone out with her again, but she says no. He does suggest becoming facebook friends. Aww. David, I really thought y’all had a good time, and were well matched – I felt bad for him when she rejected him.
I predict David gets a lot of dates after this show aired, and Annie does not!
Richard and Jeannette
They are both older and widowed. They are adorable together! They both know love and loss. Jeannette shares that she wants to go to Ireland, and he says he does. She also tells us that she has quite a bucket list. They are too cute! They both share about their spouses dying and bond and cry over that. Jeannette then tells Richard she loves him.
I love how Richard looks at Jeannette
Richard says everyone must try a couple of things before getting married: ride in a canoe together and wallpaper a room, if you can get through that together, then you will be fine. How cute is he!
Katheryn and Woody
She tells us her eggs are getting old. Woody tells us, he thinks he is a good looking guy and therefore needs someone who would look good with him. Um Please. They toast and he says to having fun, and she says to getting married. His reaction was amazing! They are discussing their meat preferences and he says he won’t force her to eat his meat. UM. The bartender about lost it right there!
They then discuss when he is leaving, and she says if you ever leave me – I will find you! Apparently that is a quote from something! Then she asks about their next date and he asks how does she feel about mud and the outdoors, and it becomes very clear she is not an outdoorsy girl. The check is delivered and she says she thinks the man should pay. They go to the interview room, and he says he doesn’t want to see her again, and she says she did want to see him again and she was ready for marriage. He says the sex would have been good, then she said she wants a divorce!
One of Katheryns comments: Wine makes me crazy and champagne makes me psycho and I have had both of them, so you are in for a great evening. Oh my!
I enjoyed the show, and will have to share Episode 2 before Episode 3 airs on Friday! I wish they would provide the updates on all of the couples.
