Last month I visited Kerry in Maryland. As soon as she picked me up from BWI we went directly to Baltimore to start touring around. Visiting the Washington Monument at Mount Vernon Place was not on our list of things to do but we passed by it on our way to the George Peabody Library and decided to go in. Before we knew it we were climbing 13 stories to the top!
We were the first visitors of the day so we had the climb to ourselves! That was a good thing because we laughed all the way to the top. We kept stopping looking for the signs the guy told us to look for. Between the two of us we didn’t see one single sign going up! How does that even happen? On the way down we saw all of them!
The monument is free to visit but you have to pay to climb to the top. If my memory serves me correctly, it was either $6 or $8 each. They do take credit cards. I completely think it’s worth the price to climb to the top.
The staircase is pretty narrow so if you don’t like tight spaces you might not like it.
Yeah…here are the signs that we missed on the way up! These pictures are all taken on the way down!
The view looking up the tower is pretty cool!
We made it to the top! They have windows and viewing spots in each direction!
The buildings in Baltimore are beautiful!
If you are in Baltimore be sure to visit Mount Vernon Place and the library. We toured these two places before we went to Dooby’s and the Escape room!
Nearby you could also visit Fell’s Point for lunch!
