I finally caught up and watched First Dates Episode 4. This is a great show!
High-powered execs try to squeeze romance into their lives; two anxiety-ridden singles hope to meet their other halves; a pair of siblings attempt a double date, with mixed results; opposites may attract for two lovestruck seniors.
Sam and Rachael
Sam is a tad OCD, but charming. Rachael is more old school than the fast paced norm these days. I think these two may be a good match just in hearing their intros.
They are both nervous but make a good effort.
They have a lot of small talk at dinner, but find out that they both have anxiety issues and OCD. They both are close to their families, Rachael’s parents are still together, but Sam’s are not. They decide they are both looking for the same things.
Sam asks her to go for ice cream.
Rachael offers to split the check, but Sam insists on paying.
She agrees to go to get ice cream. They have a really cute banter. He is all worried about what happens after ice cream, and she just says calm down. She is good for him!
They exchange phone numbers, and are actually talking to each other in this photo.
The next entrance somewhat confused me. It ended up being a brother and sister who were both getting matched up.
Molly and Austin have different taste in women, which is fortunate, since they don’t ever compete for the same girl!
Austin is the strong silent time.
Molly and Rena
Rena comes up on the duo, and isn’t thrown by this at all. Which I would say is a good sign.
Rena is a puppeteer and grew up with a very conservative family
They discuss each others coming out experiences and Rena’s work in that community. Molly’s family is very accepting, but Rena’s is not. Molly was born with a congenital disability and would like to work with the disabled.
Molly and Rena have a good view of Austin and Colleen and monitor it from their vantage point.
They discuss the word dyke. Molly tells Rena about a group dinner that she participates in, Rena asks to be included in the future.
They split the bill.
They both agree to go on a second date. They really seem like a good match.
Austin and Colleen
Austin is pleased with his arms. Colleen is very liberal, she actually broke up with someone because they didn’t recycle.
Austin insults Colleen immediately, as he says her job sounds like corporate speak.
Colleen likens love to a tequila shot – can be painful at first, but then it goes down and is a really good time. Colleen immediately brings up politics. Never a good idea, IMO. I believe this was filmed when Obama was elected…Colleen goes one step further and brings up gun control. Well Austin has guns. Colleen says this is a deal breaker for her. Immediately starts to bicker with Austin for why he has a gun, and calls him a privileged white guy. Not that this date was ever going well, but it really went way down hill from here.
Austin and Molly have a shot and a chat at the bar and discuss how their dates are going, Molly is thrilled, and Austin is not!
Colleen and Austin decide to leave. Their separate interview was hilarious, as they were completely on different dates!! She was saying, he came out of his shell, he was saying he faked conversation.
When asked about a second date, Colleen sites gun control as the reason for not wanting a date. Austin says, we are looking for different things. Good luck Colleen. I hope you find someone who meets all of your expectations! And here’s a tip don’t discuss politics and political issues on a FIRST Date. Well, I guess if you are that close minded and everyone has to agree with you on certain issues, maybe you should bring it up early?
Ommid and Candice
Ommid is very much into his work. He has decided he has to put some effort into finding a relationship. Candice is also into her work. I don’t feel good about this match at all. She wants someone who is successful and strong minded.
Awkward from the beginning. They discuss their work and their backgrounds and Ommid asks how old Candice is, and she won’t answer. Hmmm, you hit a pressure point Ommid!
EVERY LITTLE THING OMMID says, Candice spews NO. Then tells us that people thinks she is stuck up, ya think? Ommid says he likes to travel, of course Candice hates to travel. She likes sports, he doesn’t. Who matched these two? Candice loves animals, he doesn’t have pets due to the travel. But of course, he wants to own a tiger, she says he can’t. That is a little weird, I agree with you Candice.
Candice tells Ommid that she has 2 weeks of vacation a year, and one week she travels, and one week she stays home. She asks what was his favorite place to go, Vegas he says, naturally and on cue – she hates Vegas, though she has never been.
Candice tells her friend on the phone she hates Ommid. Wow, Candice hate is a strong word. Candice says the sports thing and the age question were the worst things.
Ommid tells his friend, he doesn’t think the date is going well, but it is going. Are these 2 on the same date?
Candice comes back to the table and says, let’s have an awkward conversation, and he says – about your eyes. Oh Ommid!!! Candice tells us, she doesn’t know why she is the only person in her circle of friends that isn’t married with kids. I have some ideas Candice! She then goes on to say women look bad as they age, and men look better. Ommid then seems to argue with her on some of the things she mentions, um Ommid – let her go, you deserve better. She says, I am gonna leave. He can’t believe she is gonna leave and not even eat.
He actually takes it really well and laughs it off. He wants her dinner in a to go box! He eats his dinner with that to go bag.
He has such a good spirit, I wouldn’t want to date him, but I have no doubt that there is someone out there for your Ommid. It isn’t Candice though! I hope they give him another chance on this show. Candice not so much (and for that matter Colleen not so much). (I’m a jerk, I know).
Eddie and Launa
Eddie is a bit intense. Even in the clip where he was meeting the Maître D, he was all up in his space. I should have gotten a pic of that….Eddie is a firm believer in love. Launa is a cancer survivor, and has changed her priorities. She is cute.
Eddie says he wants to kiss her right when he meets Launa, and she says don’t. He is very intense, and I don’t think Launa knows how to react. He toasts to love, and she says no – to adventure. Launa asks him to slow down.
Eddie is very charming, but feels a bit used car salesman…and again INTENSE. He mentions he had sex on a first date, probably not a good idea to tell the woman who just said slow down!
Launa calls Eddie out on not asking her any questions, his response: I don’t ask questions.
Hmmm, ding ding ding – this may be why you aren’t married Eddie!
Eddie says, he believes relationships are about discovery. Launa keeps pushing the issue and suggesting that there are deal breakers, and if you don’t ask questions….Eddie says, he is trying to stay out of his own way and not think too much. Launa admits that she often thinks too much. She says that they are both opposites, and each of them can learn something from the other.
They agree to go out on a second date. Eddie says it again, he wants to kiss her. She says, no.
This crew was quiet on facebook, I didn’t learn anything about this group. Maybe Eddie and Candice can be a match – he doesn’t ask questions, and she wants salt and pepper grey. Catch up on Episode 1, 2 and 3.
