I am so behind, again, on First Dates!! Episode 6 aired May 12! I will try to get Episode 7 (aired May 19) up before 8 airs!! But I need to post the Bachelorette too!
Two Type A personalities collide; a pair of seniors negotiate sexual politics; a young man steps outside of his comfort zone; a former athlete seeks a bad boy to settle down with a fellow sci-fi nerd.
Nate & Jennifer
We meet Nate who seems like a
control freak a nice guy. He has a flowering plant and a Jenga game.
He is dressed in a suit with a bow tie. We later learn this was a custom made suit. Jennifer is a marketing executive and wants to meet an equal. Jennifer tells us that she can be judgemental and is immediately thrown off by Nate’s props. Turns out, I think Nate is adorable (sorta) for the Jenga game. They are all questions that are meant to be ice breakers and lead to discussions between him and Jennifer.
Jennifer reveals she has been married before, but they were in two different places in life. Her husband wanted a family and she still wanted to focus on her career and wasn’t ready for family. Jennifer (
and America) find Nate way too uptight.
They come in the after the date room and Nate has a guitar and sings a song about the plant (edelweiss) he gave to her. She seems to wait for a candid camera reveal. He says he wants a second date, she reluctantly agrees and says he has to loosen up.
She rips his tie and coat off and messes up his hair. It really did help make him look less uptight!
Carlos & Leo
Carlos was adopted and has a lot of walls up, and has never told anyone “I love you”, including his family.
He tells us that he likes nerdy, white guys, who don’t dance well. They show a clip of Leo, nerdy, skinny, white guy who dances unwell 🙂
Leo is a comic book nerd. We find out that Carlos is afraid (oddly) of shrimp, so naturally, Leo orders shrimp and makes him eat one.
Carlos also reveals he believes in monogamy, but then Leo revealed in a relationship, he thinks that there should be a standard that there could be attraction to others outside of your relationship. UM? Carlos isn’t thrilled with that! They do decide to agree, there can be attraction to other people, but monogamy is where it is at in a committed relationship!
They agree to see each other again.
Stanten & Renelle
Renelle tells us that she likes tall, athletic guys. However, she doesn’t care for the ego that usually comes in that package. We are introduced to Stanton, he is a retired minor league baseball player. Ding Ding Ding. He is a hopeless romantic. Renelle used to play softball. Ding Ding Ding – the person who matched these two, deserves a raise.
He really seems like a great guy! They both have great relationships with their mommas. Renelle is looking for a man as good as her dad, or better!
He wants a second date, and she said they can hang out. What is wrong with her? What do you want? I hope they bring him back. I felt sorry for him, but leave her at home First Dates.
Russell & Susan
Susan tells us that old men are dirty old men! All they care about is sex. Well, Susan, young men are similar, FYI. Russell introduces himself as a player. Great. They meet, and actually know each other. They have interacted in the senior community in Chicago!
They have oysters, and you can tell Susan gets annoyed with Russell’s lack of hearing, or at least selective hearing. Looks like he has a cochlear implant, so I am sure he truly is deaf or hard of hearing.
He says he would like to see her again, but knows that she gets a lot of attention from other men. Hmmm, so Susan is a player too! They agree to go on a second date.
Chad & Bethany
Bethany is from a small town and knows everyone, which has made dating hard. She lost over 120 pounds, so would like to meet someone with a healthy lifestyle.
Chad was skinny as a kid, and learned to work out to beef up. Seems like this could work! They are both quite funny and have a cute banter.
Bethany hasn’t dated in a while, and said she takes a while to get to know people and then tosses them away. She tells him about her weight loss, and I don’t know I think he put her in the friend zone quickly. I could be wrong. He offered to pay, and she bickered with him wanting to split it, he let her leave the tip.
They do agree to see other again, but it seems like friend zone. Maybe Bethany and Stanton should meet! (First Dates call me – I want to help match up these people….well Ellen or Drew – go ahead call me!)
