We visited the Birmingham Zoo on our recent day trip to Birmingham. It certainly was not on my list since I’m not a huge fan of going to the zoo but we had free time and we were already in the area. We visited the Botanical Gardens right across the road before the zoo. I would have said no to the zoo if it had cost any more than it did. I checked the prices and I was pleasantly surprised how much less it cost than the Atlanta Zoo. The ticket prices for the Birmingham Zoo are $16 + tax for adults and $11 + tax for kids. The Atlanta Zoo is $25.99 for adults and $17.99 for kids. That is one of the major reasons I don’t like the zoo. I don’t think it’s worth the price.
The Birmingham Zoo is having a lot of construction so I don’t know if some of the exhibits were new, temporary or old. I could see some of the new stuff that they were doing and it looks nice.
There aren’t many animal pictures because we didn’t see that many animals! Go figure! I think the animals sense my bad energy about the zoo and hide from me!
These turtles never moved. They were enjoying their life sitting still in the mud. Live the life turtles!
The barn was beautiful with a bunch of really cute animals. This was my favorite part of the zoo.
Rose was so excited when she saw the camels! A week earlier they had camel rides at the Renaissance Festival but she couldn’t ride because she was not dressed for it. She ran to the camels so fast. It was $5.00 to ride and perfectly worth the price.
Like most other zoos there were a lot of things you could do in addition to seeing the animals. For an additional amount of money no doubt! There was a carousel, a zip line and an adventure course. The zip line and adventure course were closed and the carousel had no less than 10 million kids that were there for field trips. Did I mention my luck with zoos? Extra kids everywhere and all the animals hid from us!
