Kerry was traveling with me on this portion of the road trip. We left Colorado Springs around noon and headed East. We drove through Kansas most of the day. It was a great drive, the roads were flat with low traffic and we could see for miles and miles!
The picture above was taken during the drive that day. Pick a place along the 400 miles or so and it would pretty much look the same! I thought it was beautiful!
Kerry was great at searching for restaurants that sounded good. The more she read the menu for Gella’s Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. the faster I drove. I think we were about an hour away from the town when we decided on Gella’s so by the time we got there we were ready to eat to say the least!
First of all the town of Hays, KS is very nice and we enjoyed driving through it. The restaurant itself is very pretty and located in a very pretty historic looking building.
I loved the interior space. I work for an Architecture firm in a very similar type of historic building so I was appreciating all of the details.
I’m not usually a bathroom fanatic and certainly don’t usually take pictures of them but this one was particularly nice and clean so I did!
How cute is that sign and table?!
We had not eaten since breakfast so we wanted everything on the menu for dinner. It seems like when we travel we end up skipping meals by accident.
All of the food was very good.
This steak didn’t have a chance with my starving teenage son!
My daughter had the salmon cakes.
I had the chicken and noodles, they were so good!
The kids split a French toast brûlée. Notice there isn’t a picture of it! It was gone before we knew it. I think it’s a lovely place to stop and eat if you are traveling through Kansas or if you are lucky enough to live nearby!
