Our amazing road trip included a visit to Las Vegas! It is one of my favorite cities after all. Before the trip I kept seeing pictures of Seven Magic Mountains on social media and I just had to see it! Neon art in the middle of the desert, by all means yes!!!
Seven Magic Mountains is a two-year art exhibition in the desert just outside of Las Vegas. It is by the Swiss Artist Ugo Rondinone.
We drove from Tucson to Las Vegas and instead of going straight to the hotel we drove about 20 miles outside of Vegas to see this.
I’m not implying that everyone in the car with me was on board with that plan because they weren’t but they were all patient and went along with my crazy plan.
I have to say that the parking lot was packed and there were lots of people. We laughed because we could overhear at least one person in every group complaining about being in the 110 degree heat just to “see rocks”. So, that’s good to know that I wasn’t the only one forcing others to come along with me!
There are seven totems painted in day glow colors. They are about 30-35′ high! It is so cool in person. There is nothing around except for dessert so the colors look amazing!
I love this picture of my dad. We weren’t trying to take the picture like this but it turned out like he was trying to hold the rocks.
If you visit Seven Magic Mountains be sure to take some water because there aren’t services there. No bathrooms either! It’s a fantastic place to visit. I’m thankful that everyone went with me and I’m sure they ended up loving it. (not really sure of that actually but it was a life experience none the less)
