Ipsy October 2017

Look at me posting during the month! Go Me!!

We got our October 2017 Ipsy Glam Bags!! They were cute this month and we got a lot of good stuff.

So as you all know, I am a professional photographer, I just have to apologize for the pictures in this post!  I got a new camera and was playing with it, and um, apparently, I don’t know how to use it yet.  🙁  I’ll do better!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Powder

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • It’s so light and airy, you can’t feel it on and it gives you a soft, airbrushed look in seconds.
  • It’s made with silk, collagen, and antioxidant-rich ingredients, which means it’ll make your skin super happy.
  • We passed it around the office and the translucent shade works on sooo many skintones.

How to Use It

Apply Pressed Powder Like A Pro

1. Swirl your powder brush into the compact and tap off extra loose powder.

2. Sweep it allover your face in circular motions.

Bonus: It can be worn alone, or over makeup. Either way, it blurs imperfections and makes your skin look gorg.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion

Ipsy October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • That 24/7 callout is no joke. This pencil really does last allll day.
  • It glides on like butter. Meaning that crisp lines, graphic looks, even a cat eye is actually easy. (We’re not just saying that!)
  • The inky black shade blends like a dream, so you can really smoke it out for that rockstar chic, morning-after-an-epic-party vibe. (Or not! You do you.)

How to Use It

8 Ways to Wear Black Eyeliner

How to make the staple of your makeup bag go beyond basic.

  1. The XXL Cat Eye: Create a classic cat eye, but wayyyy bolder and thicker (so the liner takes up most of your eyelid).
  2. Ink’d: Draw a heart on the top of your cheekbone, then create The OG on your upper lashline.
  3. The Twiggy: Create The OG on your upper lashline and draw thick lashes (going downward) on your bottom lid.
  4. Go Graphic: Create a thick wing and bring the end of the wing back above the crease.
  5. Spotted: Create a regular cat eye on your upper lid, then  place a small dot in the center of your lower lashline.
  6. Underliner: Trace liner along your lower waterline.
  7. The Floating Wing: Draw a triangle wing shape on the outer portion of your eye (no lashline definition needed).
  8. Doubled Up: Line your upper lids with a wing. Mirror the same shape on your lower lids.

My Thoughts

I am usually too lazy for eye liner, but I will find this a home.  I think Crystal has been the proud recipient of some of my samples of this before!  I know this is a great liner, and it has quite the cult following.

Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Lid Primer in Light

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • You’re killing it with your eye look, so why not make it last? This lid primer (yes, that’s a thing) prevents creasing and holds your shadow in place wayyy longer.
  • You know how sometimes makeup shades look different in the palette than on your skin? This evens out your lid tone to make shadows look bolder and brighter when you apply them.
  • It was developed by professional photogs to make eye makeup look flawless in photo shoots, so it’ll DEF help you step up your selfie game.

How to Use It

Your shadow game just got even more amazing.

1. Dab all over lids with your fingertips

2. Let settle for 30 seconds before applying your fave powder or cream eyeshadow.

Nail Medic Charcoal Infused Nail Polish in Lava or Volcanic Ash

Ipsy October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • It’s seriously chip-proof and lasted through a full week. (And during that week, we went hiking twice and went to a pottery class!)
  • This polish has actual bits of charcoal in it to make your nails stronger and protect them from toxins and pollutants.
  • Lava is a super flattering lavender-gray shade. It’s a not-too-prissy way to wear pastel.
  • Volcanic Ash is a steely gray (and is our favorite new neutral).
  • ipsters will receive Lava OR Volcanic Ash

How to Use It

3 Steps to a Perfect At-Home Polish Job

1. Start with a drop of polish just above your cuticle.

2. Sweep in three strokes: center, left, then right.

3. Repeat with a second coat of polish, then finish with top coat.

My Thoughts

I do love nail polish, this isn’t a color I would typically pick, but I think Crystal and her daughter would love it.

MEECH AND MIA Loose Eyeshadow in Beige

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • We’re going bananas for this mineral loose shadow that can be used for anything from a subtle wash of color to an all-out dramatic look.
  • Your furry friends are safe. These are not tested on animals.

  • ipsters will receive Purple OR Beige (the purple is lovely!)

How to Use It

A super easy look with major impact.

1. Dab the tip of an eyeshadow brush into metallic shadow, then press that into the center of your lower lashline.

2. Slide the brush back and forth (from the inner corners of your eyes to the outer corners) to blend and diffuse.

3. Voila! Enjoy your gorgeous, shimmering look.

tarte deluxe lifted sweatproof mascara

Ipsy October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • This volumizing formula helps make our ultra-straight, sparse lashes look thicker, longer, and more lifted with just one coat.
  • Shout out to ipsters who swim, work out, or live in hot, humid climates. This sweat-proof mascara swears to stay put through any workout. Bikram yoga? Bring it on. Water aerobics? Yup. Another heatwave? You got this.
  • While it’s latching onto your lashes for dear life, this epic formula also helps condition and strengthen them. (We see you, Amazonian clay and Vitamin C.)

How to Use It

6 Mascara Hacks You’ve Never Heard

Step up your lash game for good.

1. To avoid smudges, place a business card behind your lashes while applying mascara.

2. For added definition, use a lip brush to apply on bottom lashes.

3. For more volume, lightly dust translucent powder onto your lashes between coats.

4. To clean up smudges, wait for it to dry, then flick it away with a q-tip dipped in makeup remover.

5. To use it in place of liquid eyeliner, lightly dip an angled brush into your mascara and glide it along your lashline.

6. For lower lash precision, hold the wand vertically when applying to your bottom lashes.

My Thoughts

I gave this a try one night before line dancing, and sure enough, it didn’t flake or budge with all that sweating!  This is a winner!

Hey Honey Trick AND Treat: ACTIVE PROPOLIS CREAM CONCEALER

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • Under eye circles? To the left. This lightweight concealer is insanely hydrating (which helps to soothe and soften them) and has buildable, believable coverage.
  • It’s made with active propolis. Active what? That’s an ingredient honey bees collect from flowers while they’re buzzing around. It helps restore your skin’s structure and protects against damage. Aww thanks, bees!

Three Steps To Conceal When You Can’t Deal

1. Moisturize your skin so it’s all soft and hydrated.

2. Using a concealer brush (or your fingers), dab a drop of concealer under each eye (or where you need it) and pat until it’s smooth and blended.

3. Repeat until all you see is bright, flawless skin.

My Thoughts

We both got this one this month, I don’t know I am too lazy for concealer, and am fortunate that I don’t “NEED” it just yet.  I will find a home for it 🙂

TONYMOLY Peach Hand Cream

Ipsy October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • Summer may seem like a distant memory (waaah!), but at least we can still smell like it with this delish peachy keen hand cream.
  • The blend of apricot and peach extracts and shea butter made our hands SO soft and smooth.
  • It’s got something called Adenosine in it, which helps to reduce the look of wrinkles (which is perf if you spent a leetle too much time in the sun this summer like we did. Oops.)

How to Use It

Hit the dry spots. Elbows and knees, we’re looking at you.

Step 1

Rub on a thick layer.

Step 2

Kick back, and let it absorb.

Bonus

For all you fake tanners, it keeps color from building up on rough areas.

My Thoughts

Well, who doesn’t love a hand cream or peaches?  I haven’t opened it yet, but I will give it a try.  Sometimes scents can be overpowering, so if this one isn’t, I will enjoy it.  I recently read that hand creams can set off something in airports and you get pulled out of security and get your hands tested for explosives!  Who knew??  I have been pulled out before and tested, and always blamed my eczema cream.  Have you had this happen?  I wonder what is in hand creams that reads as “possible explosives”.

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Oil Treatment

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2017

Why You’ll Love It

  • It’s full of awesome vitamins like Biotin, which keeps your scalp and strands v healthy and happy.

How to Use It

3 Ways to Use Hair Oil:

1. Extend your blowout. Add dry shampoo to your roots and hair oil to your ends for a boost of shine.

2. Tame your pony. Keep baby hairs and flyaways smooth by applying a few drops to your fingers and smoothing the hair down.

3. Make a DIY Sea Salt Spray. Mix the following in a spray bottle:
