I recently treated myself to a new piece of luggage.  After 19 years of using the same carry on bag that I got from K-Mart I figured it was about darn time!  I give credit to the K-Mart luggage though…it held its own!

For a year I have been eyeing the Away brand smart luggage but as I was doing my last-minute research I came across the Raden brand and liked its sleek design much better.  I only travel with a carry on bag so I knew that was the size that I wanted to purchase.  I packed a good amount in the bag, enough for six days.  One note is that it does not expand.  It comes it many colors as well as gloss or matte finish.

I purchased directly from the Raden website when the luggage was on sale for $195. (normally $295) I decided to be bold and pick the gloss white.  I was a little nervous about scuffs and scrapes but after its first travel experience it came back flawless.  At one point another passenger crammed by bag down the conveyor belt with his big bag and scuffed mine all up but when I got to the resort it wiped right off!

The luggage has many features including a self weighing system.  Install the app on your phone and register your bag.  Lift the handle and it weights itself.  Ta-da!  Pretty handy feature!  It also has a few other techie features that are fun!

The luggage arrives packed in a high quality laundry bag!

It also has a TSA approved locking system.

I wasn’t aware that it came with a cute eye-mask, ear plugs and a case to put them in.  Also included is the charging cord.

The battery is easily reached in a zippered pouch.  To charge the suitcase just use the cord provided and plug it in.  It didn’t take very long to charge and you can check the percentage on the app.

It was so wonderful not to search for an outlet at the airport!! The suitcase has two USB ports so I can charge two items at once.  When I was standing in line at customs for 40 minutes I plugged my phone in and kept my phone in my purse that was sitting on top of my suitcase.  It was perfect as my bag was so easy to roll along.  When I left customs my phone was 100% charged and I was ready to hit the ground running all day!

The zippers provide waterproof sealing.  I don’t know that I’ve ever had a problem with water getting thru zippers but whatever the zippers are nice.

The wheels are insanely smooth.  The website and reviews I watched talked so much about the wheels that I couldn’t wait to test them.  This suitcase glides.  It doesn’t roll…it glides through the airport.  It glided over rough concrete, a speed bump and everything else.  It’s freaking lovely.  To sum it up I love the bag.  It was a ton of money for me to spend but I figured I was worth the splurge for once.  I have to admit that I was feeling a little guilty between the time I purchased and its arrival but once I opened it I loved it.  I was still a bit skeptical until I traveled with it.  I must say it’s worth the money.  It looks good, it’s sturdy, it’s functional and it has some features that make it just a little extra awesome.
