Visiting the Four Corners Monument

July 27, 2017
Four Corners Monument

Our summer road trip across America took us to the Four Corners Monument.  I have always been curious about the monument and I have traveled near it but have never been prior to this trip.  I wanted to make sure to incorporate this into our road trip this year. Earlier that morning we left Flagstaff, Arizona and went to the East Entrance of the Grand Canyon (also known as Desert View).  That was a beautiful drive from Flagstaff to the…

High Roller Observation Wheel in Las Vegas

July 20, 2017
High Roller Observation Wheel - Las Vegas

On our recent trip to Las Vegas we decided to finally take a spin – literally – on the High Roller Observation Wheel! We have wanted to do this on our last few trips to Las Vegas but there is never enough time to fit everything in! The High Roller is located mid-strip near the Flamingo and the LINQ Hotel.  We were staying at Mandalay Bay so we took a taxi over to beat the heat.  We did this just…

Hilton Garden Inn El Paso University

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn El Paso University on our trip across America!  On this particular day we had driven from Houston which is over 750 miles!  On that drive through South Texas there isn’t much to see so we were very happy to enter El Paso!  The hotel is located at 111 West University Avenue, El Paso, TX 79902. Hilton App We checked in the previous day using the Hilton app.  The app is fabulous, you can…

The Birmingham Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo

We visited the Birmingham Zoo on our recent day trip to Birmingham.  It certainly was not on my list since I’m not a huge fan of going to the zoo but we had free time and we were already in the area.  We visited the Botanical Gardens right across the road before the zoo.  I would have said no to the zoo if it had cost any more than it did.  I checked the prices and I was pleasantly surprised…

The Redmont Hotel

The Redmont Hotel

I like nice hotels.  I just do.  I always have and I surely don’t plan on changing my ways anytime soon.  I sure did find a good one when I found The Redmont in Birmingham, Alabama.  The Redmond is a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel.  It is conveniently located in downtown Birmingham on Fifth Avenue North. My daughter and I traveled to Birmingham to see Alton Brown Live and decided that we would rather stay the night than to travel back to…

Free Things to do in Birmingham

May 1, 2017
Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Last week we spent just about 24 hours in Birmingham.  Even though we were there for a short amount of time we sure found plenty to do!  We traveled there to see Alton Brown’s live show and stayed overnight at The Redmont Hotel and toured around the next day. I appreciate free things to do in the cities that we travel to.  It gets very expensive taking a family to see local attractions, sporting events, etc.  I am a firm…

Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore

April 12, 2017
Mount Vernon Place

Last month I visited Kerry in Maryland.  As soon as she picked me up from BWI we went directly to Baltimore to start touring around.  Visiting the Washington Monument at Mount Vernon Place was not on our list of things to do but we passed by it on our way to the George Peabody Library and decided to go in. Before we knew it we were climbing 13 stories to the top! We were the first visitors of the day…

Excellence Playa Mujeres Review Part 1

April 10, 2017
Excellence Playa Mujeres

I posted some pictures from this trip back in December and realized that I never really posted a review. We were invited to join a group of friends for this trip to celebrate a birthday!  I didn’t pick the location, but was very pleased with the location.  So much so, that Russell and I are planning a trip for this year. I now judge everywhere by the standard we experienced in October! We booked with April.  I am mixed about…

Grand Canyon – South Rim

April 5, 2017
Grand Canyon ~ www.fabulousindeed.com

As an adult, I have been to the Grand Canyon two times (I know that I went as a kid but can’t tell you many details!).  The first time was several years ago when I worked for the National Park Service.  They had a cool training program where one portion (there were 5 portions) was held in the Grand Canyon.  I got to go for almost two weeks and stayed in the Park in the Training Center housing.  This trip…
