The Redmont Hotel

May 4, 2017
The Redmont Hotel

I like nice hotels.  I just do.  I always have and I surely don’t plan on changing my ways anytime soon.  I sure did find a good one when I found The Redmont in Birmingham, Alabama.  The Redmond is a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel.  It is conveniently located in downtown Birmingham on Fifth Avenue North. My daughter and I traveled to Birmingham to see Alton Brown Live and decided that we would rather stay the night than to travel back to…

Free Things to do in Birmingham

May 1, 2017
Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Last week we spent just about 24 hours in Birmingham.  Even though we were there for a short amount of time we sure found plenty to do!  We traveled there to see Alton Brown’s live show and stayed overnight at The Redmont Hotel and toured around the next day. I appreciate free things to do in the cities that we travel to.  It gets very expensive taking a family to see local attractions, sporting events, etc.  I am a firm…

Mount Vernon Place in Baltimore

April 12, 2017
Mount Vernon Place

Last month I visited Kerry in Maryland.  As soon as she picked me up from BWI we went directly to Baltimore to start touring around.  Visiting the Washington Monument at Mount Vernon Place was not on our list of things to do but we passed by it on our way to the George Peabody Library and decided to go in. Before we knew it we were climbing 13 stories to the top! We were the first visitors of the day…

Excellence Playa Mujeres Review Part 1

April 10, 2017
Excellence Playa Mujeres

I posted some pictures from this trip back in December and realized that I never really posted a review. We were invited to join a group of friends for this trip to celebrate a birthday!  I didn’t pick the location, but was very pleased with the location.  So much so, that Russell and I are planning a trip for this year. I now judge everywhere by the standard we experienced in October! We booked with April.  I am mixed about…

Grand Canyon – South Rim

April 5, 2017
Grand Canyon ~ www.fabulousindeed.com

As an adult, I have been to the Grand Canyon two times (I know that I went as a kid but can’t tell you many details!).  The first time was several years ago when I worked for the National Park Service.  They had a cool training program where one portion (there were 5 portions) was held in the Grand Canyon.  I got to go for almost two weeks and stayed in the Park in the Training Center housing.  This trip…

The George Peabody Library in Baltimore

March 28, 2017
The George Peabody Library

The George Peabody Library in Baltimore is stunning to say the least.  Kerry and I visited weeks ago while we were touring around some of the historic sites in Baltimore. Visitors aren’t allowed to go on the upper floors but the view is still amazing from the first floor. If you are planning a trip to Baltimore be sure to visit the Library.  It is truly amazing.  Also, check out Fell’s Point, it’s just a few minutes away!…

Fell’s Point Baltimore

March 23, 2017
Fell's Point Baltimore

Years ago Kerry and I toured Inner Harbor of Baltimore. During this trip we wanted to see some new things so we checked out Fell’s Point. It is a beautiful waterfront historic neighborhood.  There are so many restaurants, bars and warehouse lofts! Not to mention the H&S Bakery, Inc. which we kept passing over and over since we got turned around a few times.  I think my GPS is trained to follow the scent of food.  The bakery is really…

Chelsea Market in New York City

February 16, 2017
New York 2016

On our recent trip to New York City we spent a lot of time at Chelsea Market.  It is simply stunning.  I love historic buildings that have been turned into something wonderful again.  Chelsea Market is near the high line so it’s easy to walk to! The market is full of wonderful stores and restaurants!  We went early in the morning and it was pretty quiet so you could walk around and get a good look at everything.  By lunchtime…

New York City

New York 2016

Rose and I took a quick trip to New York City in the fall and we had a blast!   Rose has been to NYC previously but we drove into the city on our last visit so this was her first time getting a bird’s eye view of the beautiful city.  The view never gets old to me.  I love it! The high line is one of my favorite places in New York.  On my last girl’s trip to NYC…
